Ultrafiltration (UF) is a membrane separation technology that relies on tangential flow and pressure-driven processes to separate particles based on molecular weight. With pressure differential as the driving force, the raw liquid flows on the surface, and solvents and small solute particles from the raw liquid pass through the membrane from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side.
Dissolved substances and materials smaller than the membrane pore size can pass through the membrane as permeate.
The liquid that passes through is generally referred to as filtrate or permeate, while substances that cannot pass through the membrane are retained by the ultrafiltration membrane and gradually concentrated in the discharge liquid. The retained portion is generally referred to as concentrate, which increases in concentration in the remaining liquid, achieving the purpose of purification, separation, and concentration of the solution
