S-614 is a new type of non-chlorine disinfectant designed specifically for cooling towers.
It is suitable for use in high-temperature, high-alkalinity, and high-hardness cooling water systems. S-614 helps reduce fouling and blockages on pipe walls, heat exchangers, and filters by carrying accumulated sludge, sediment, microbiological substances, and other debris out of the cooling tower with the circulating water. This increases the circulation rate and enhances the performance of the cooling tower.
Traditionally, chlorine gas was commonly used to inhibit Legionella growth, but due to its high hazard and environmental impact, S-614 utilizes the latest international technology with peroxy compounds as raw materials to produce an active oxygen disinfectant. It combines safety, environmental friendliness, high efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
When dissolved in water, S-614 generates various high-energy, highly active small molecules, free radicals, and oxygen derivatives. These substances can disrupt the permeability barrier of microbial cell membranes, causing leakage of cellular contents and disrupting energy-dependent membrane transport systems.
They can also bind with metal ions such as calcium and iron in nucleic acids, producing hydroxyl radicals (•OH) that break the phosphodiester bonds in DNA and have a similar destructive effect on RNA.
As a water treatment disinfectant, S-614 exhibits strong oxidizing power, effectively killing microorganisms in water and removing organic matter from wastewater. Its metabolic by-products only marginally increase K+ and SO24+ levels in water, posing no harm to humans or the environment.
